The exhibition comprises a diverse collection of works, including drawings, sketches, paintings, sculptures and commercial and advertising works. One of the highlights is the selection of pictures taken between 1955 and 1985 by Robert Descharnes, French photographer and friend of Dalí, which offer a rare glimpse into the artist’s personal life, in intimate moments and in his family environment.
Salvador Dalí, born in 1904, in Figueres, in the northeast of Spain, became a global personality, with a unique presence and an unmistakable style. His limitless creativity, along with his provocative humor and his famous mustache, made him an unforgettable figure, building a brand that transcended time.
“This exhibition is an unmissable opportunity to explore the legacy of one of the most iconic artists of the 20th century and discover the man behind the myth. It is a collection that reveals the versatility of the Atkinson Museum, which aims to bring notable international exhibitions to Porto, touching the most diverse spectrums of art, from classical to contemporary”, highlights Adrian Bridge, general director of the Fladgate Partnership group, to which WOW belongs.
The exhibition “Dalí Universe” has the collaboration of Nicolas Descharnes, curation by Tiago Feijó and coordination by Andreia Esteves, responsible for the Atkinson Museum and WOW’s international partnerships.
